Abstract

This study presents the changes in the judicial education with emphasis on the approach based on competences, in response to globalization and the establishment of international standards in law enforcement. Additionally, it analyzes the role of education as a tool to educate and improve the performance of judicial power officials in order to contribute to the institutionality and transparency of the judicial function. This study develops the judicial education in Costa Rica to analyze the progress made in terms of the evaluation based on competences as well as its results. In conclusion, this article highlights that education is a tool that must be implemented in different areas of this matter to improve the law enforcement systems.

Especialista en métodos de Enseñanza de la Escuela Judicial de Costa Rica. Graduada de la Universidad de Costa Rica como Socióloga. Graduada de la Universidad Estatal a Distancia en la licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación. Maestría en Humanidades. Docente en la Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, en la Universidad Metropolitana Castro Carazo y en el Ministerio de Educación Pública. Se desempeñó en el Centro de Estudios para la Acción Social.
