Convention 190 and Recommendation 206 of the International Labor Organization
Keywords:
moral harassment, sexual harassment, violence at the workplaceAbstract
The 108th International Conference of the International Labor Organization was of key importance because of the celebration of its centenary and the approval, after a ten-year-long discussion, of Convention 190 and Recommendation 206 on violence and harassment in the workplace, problems that perhaps have always existed, but only in the last decades did they become the object of study and combat. Since then, the topic has become a mandatory study in every country around the world. A formal regulation to guide the standardization of the issue was long overdue. Convention 190 can represent much more than a direction for the production of laws related to harassment and violence in the workplace, insofar as it can represent the return of the International Labor Organization to its leading role in the international scene, especially at a time when social problems are increasingly succumbing to economic arguments.
