Abstract

This article begins with an analysis of the Roman and medieval antecedents of the marriage bond, the way in which it was formed, its requirements and impediments. Likewise, it briefly deals with the relationship between the figure of marriage and religion in that period, and reflects on the prevalence of certain religious norms in the legal figure of marriage in our country over time. The first part concludes with a summary exposition of the types of marriage, as well as the forms of dissolution of the figure. Next, the work deals with the study of notarial marriage. Firstly, the figure of the notary and his powers are analyzed, as well as the relationship between the notary public and the contracting parties. In the last section of the text, a proposal for the regulation of notarial marriage in Mexico is formulated.
