This work addresses three topics: first, Mexico's ephemeral imperial experiment and its influence on the consideration of federalism as an option; second, the Constitutive Act of the Federation, which reviews the debate surrounding its drafting, its context and the most relevant points for the implementation of federalism; and finally, the Constitution of 1824, which analyzes the federalist model established at the national level and the persistent centralism at the local level.
