Abstract

This article analyzes the importance of the educational model based on competences in a specialized curricular program for the Judicial Power officials training. From an anthropological perspective, it presents the characteristics of the educational movement created with the implementation of such model in order to understand the education and learning process that is currently taking place. Furthermore, with the purpose of comparing the theoretical principles of the pedagogical model based on the competences with the “traditional education”, this article addresses the characteristics of behaviorism and constructivism. Then, it is questioned the pedagogical proposal made by the Master’s Degree in Human Rights Department of State of Mexico Judicial School. It is worth mentioning that this degree is offered under the model based on competences, in response to the current labor and social requirements of the society. Additionally, the empirical evidence from practice proves that the transition to the model based on competences is in process, since this transition will not be automatic, smooth no easy. Finally, this article concludes that if this Judicial School aims to improve officials’ jurisdictional practice —through the model based on competences and through the application of knowledge to resolve problems and develop skills—, this transition will have to gradually take place.
